Tourists rescued from flooded Chiang Mai resort
HEAVY rain and forest runoff led to several houses and a wide tourist area in Chiang Mai’s Hang Dong district being flooded with over 40 Chinese tourists stuck at a resort safely rescued, Thai News Agency said today (Oct. 12).
Torrential overnight rain led to forest runoff gushing down into Hang Dong’s Bang Pong subdistrict with water being as high as 1 meter and residents rushing to move their belongings to higher area but most failed to do so with their whole house inundated and they now do not have a place to sleep because their bedding is soaking wet.
Rescuers also had to help over 40 Chinese tourists who were stuck at a resort in Hang Dong district and managed to get all of them out safely.
