7 Thai women caught smuggling drugs into Japan.
7 Thai women were arrested in Japan after their attempt to smuggle drugs into the country. The 7 women joined a tour group hoping that they would blend in with the Thai tourists and make it past Japanese officials. The story was shared on 17 October 2019 to Thai Netizens by a Facebook user named “Jaisuksakuldee Thanakorn”.
Japanese Police and Customs Officials at Fukuoka Airport reported the arrest of 7 Thai women who smuggled in drugs weighing more than 1 kilogram into Japan. The women separated the drugs into tiny bags and hid them in random places on their bodies. Although there were strong attempts made to fool the officials, the women have put themselves in trouble with the Japanese officials in September 2019.
The 7 women purchased tour tickets and tried to blend in as Thai tourists in Japan. When caught with the evidence, the women admitted that they tried to smuggle the drugs into Japan for other foreigners living in Japan. The women supposedly received orders from tourists living in Japan to bring in the drugs, although this is only what the possibilities can be. The final answer will be published after the prosecution process when all evidence is taken into consideration. Together they divided the drugs into smaller bags then inserted them into secret body parts before catching the plane to Fukuoka Airport.
The Public Prosecutors Office in Japan has brought the 7 women to prosecute them in court. Jaisuksakuldee’s friend is an interpreter that had the opportunity to work in the case with a Japanese Lawyer. The lawyer was hired by a prosecutor to help the Thai women explain their part of the story in the case. Hopefully, we will receive the final ending to this story soon.
There has been another arrest in recent weeks of Thai women smuggling cocaine into Japan. This affects the reputation of Thai tourists and in the future if the problem continues Japanese officials might have to make it harder for real Thai tourists to enter the country as protection against drug smugglers.
