Gen Prawit: Talks with politicians before June 26

DEPUTY Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said this morning (June 20, 2018) that he will be holding talks with politicians before June 26 which is when Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha returns from Europe, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.

The talks, likely to center on lifting the ban on political activities,  will be attended by Gen Prawit, members of the Election Commission and Deputy Prime Minister Visanu Krua-ngarm.

“I want to hear what all they want … we will be listening and allowing them to ask questions – what we can answer we will do so, what we can’t we will prepare information to explain to this meeting.

“This will then be submitted to Prime Minister Prayut to consider,” Gen Prawit said.

Asked about taking care of the security prior to the coronation of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, Gen Prawit replied:

“Right now is it not okay? Let’s put it this way, I can take care of it just as I am already doing so.”

He also added that he will not be discussing this ceremony with the politicians at the meeting to be held this month.
