M79 grenades found in roadside underbrush
BOMB disposal police officers in Chachoengsao province, east of Bangkok, found 2 boxes of M79 grenades hidden in roadside bushes opposite the area where a big cache of war weapons was found yesterday, Thai News Agency reported today (Dec. 1).
Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Srivara Rangseepromnakul had widened the search of the area after another grenade was found near yesterday’s cache, which was on a plot of land belonging of Mr. Bhumi Lohnoh, who had earlier alerted police after spotting something suspicious, which led to the discovery of these 2 boxes of grenades.
Police have been told to collect DNA samples and fingerprints in their detailed search with the investigation to be further expanded to nearby Nakhon Naiyok, Pathum Thani and Nakhon Pathom provinces.
The weapons found yesterday were new and ready to use while the M79 grenades found afterwards is not being used by Thai authorities.
Pol. Gen. Srivara added that whether the discovery of these weapons is in anyway linked to the unrest in 2014 is still being investigated.
Found hidden in the grass yesterday were grenades, sticks of TNT, 40mm grenades for launchers, thousands f various type bullets and many types of guns.
