New airport planned for Phayao

IF everything goes as planned, the northern Thai province of Phayao will get to build a new international airport to serve the growing number of air passengers in the northern region, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported today (June 9, 2018).

A 1,500-rai area straddling the four sub-districts of Wiang, Jampawai, Pin and Mae Ka is earmarked for construction of the new facility.

There are now local roads leading to the new airport area from the four sub-districts. This will help reduce the construction cost, said the paper.
