Belgian diver: Good news soon
A BELGIAN diver who joined Thai Seals in going into the big cave in Chiang Rai where 12 young soccer players and their coach have been trapped for 9 days now said upon coming out at 12.30 p.m. today (July 1, 2018) that there should be good news soon, the Thai language daily Matichon reported.
Only identified as Mr Ben, he had been accompanied by 4 other members of his group to help reach and rescue the young soccer team.
Mr Ben very briefly told reporters that he and his group had just come from the 3rd hall within the cave which is where Thai Seals have set up camp.
He added that he joined the Seals since yesterday and diving was difficult because they had to go through different water levels and there were strong currents, but added that he is confident there will be good news soon.
At 2.30 pm today reporters covering the rescue operation were told that the Seals at their camp in the cave’s 3rd hall were getting close to an area called Pattaya beach, where the 12 young soccer players and their coach are believed to be stranded, being just 500 meters away.
This is the closest the Seals have got to the targeted area.
Meanwhile Chiang Rai Governor Nanongsak Osothanakorn said His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, who has been closely following the rescue operation from the start, has donated rechargeable LED lights which the Seal are hanging in the cave so that there is light all the way to the Pattaya beach area, INN News reported
