Affordable fun at a Sukhumvit rooftop bar
AFTER completing a tiring day of work many would want to relax in a cool rooftop atmosphere and enjoy good food and drinks while surrounded by mesmerizing city lights yet with all this not too expensive.
A recommended place that fits the bill is the Rooftop Bar at Akyra TAS Sukhumvit Hotel in soi 20, Sanook! Travel wrote this week (Oct 8-14, 2018).
Many people think a rooftop bar is out of reach because most of them charge very high prices but here visitors get to enjoy the Sukhumvit ambiance at a reasonable rate.
Not many people know of this gem hidden on the 20th floor of the hotel with a clear view of Phrom Phong station and lights glittering as if the stars had fallen to earth. Just this view is enough to make one happy.
Where food is concerned, there is a full menu here unlike other rooftop bars that often just serve appetizers. There are also many signature dishes available which could be enjoyed with either Thai or foreign draft beer amid the great ambiance.
Sanook! Travel reporters first ordered nachos topped with Mexican-style salsa, which was crisp and tasty, and accompanied with sweet pepper pork salad. It was a good starter.
This was followed by some selections from the Thai Up! menu including pork satay, grilled beef yum, grilled chicken wings and spring rolls. These are all-time favorite Thai appetizers.
The main course was this establishment’s highlight – barbecued pork spareribs. It was a very big serving of 2 giant-size spareribs which were very well-seasoned and did not require a sauce. The meat was so tender it easily came off the bone. It is not surprising that this is the recommended dish here.
The dessert, Thai Tea Tiramisu, was a superb end to a delicious meal being not too sweet and ever so tasty.
