The hashtag #Saveubon is trending online as the flooding situation in Ubon Ratchathani Province is getting more critical as time continues. The biggest fear now for the Ubon People is that the water will enter the hospital. A famous Facebook Page “Drama-addict” shared updates on the current situation of the flood.
Volunteers are needed to help fill up sandbags to make a wall protecting the Sappasit Prasong Hospital. People in the area state that throughout the province all roads have been flooded with only 1 main road left for land vehicles. The water is starting to rise into the main city of the province. Citizens in the area are worried most about the Sappasit Prasong Hospital as it is near where the water is coming into the city. The sandbags may help protect the water from entering for a while, but the water can also come through the pipes in the hospital water system.
There are not enough people to help flood victims in the area. People of Ubon Ratchathani are asking for help from related government sectors. The help is truly needed, as this is the worst flood Ubon Ratchathani has faced in 41 years. The latest water level at the Saeree Prachathipatai Bridge coming in from the Moon River is at 10.83 meters.
Ubon Ratchathani is the province that connects to Moon river that is connected to the waters of Chi River. This is why all the water is traveling onto the land of Ubon Ratchathani from the constant rain in the past 2 weeks. All 8 floodgates of the Moon River Dam have been opened to release water into the Mekong River, but it hasn’t helped much as water levels are also high in the Mekong.
