Air pollution hits Lampang schools
Students in all schools in the northern Thai province of Lampang were instructed to stay indoors this morning (Jan 27, 2020) as the level of air pollution went up, the Thai-language daily Khao Sod reported.
The problem is partly caused by the slash-and-burn agriculture, which has been going on for nearly 20 days, with the levels of PM2.5 particles rising over the standard measure for the past 22 days.
PM2.5 refers to atmospheric particulate matter (PM) that has a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometers, which is about 3% the diameter of a human hair.
