Bridge collapses, son saves father with villagers help.
A father and son were driving on a bridge when it collapsed into two. The father fainted so the son escaped the waters and notified the villagers who came running to help. Nattapong Janket the Deputy District Chief in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, the local rescue team, and other related officials in the area went to inspect a bridge crossing the Mahasawat Canal on 13 August 2020. The bridge is located in Beauty House Village collapsed while a father and son were crossing on a motorbike. Both have survived the incident although left with injuries.
Officials found concrete about 1.2 meters long broken off the bridge sitting in the canal. The concrete had collapsed into the waters below. The bridge is used as a shortcut from Soi Achira Prasit alley to the Sanrej Pattana Village. The road leading to the bridge cuts through fruit farms in Bang Kruai. Near the canal was a damaged Honda motorbike with a Bangkok license plate covered in mud. Kasem Diskert 51 years one of the villagers stated that the incident took place at around 16.00. A father and son were crossing the bridge to get back home from school. The son came running to him asking for help as his father and the motorbike fell into the canal after the small bridge broke down.
Kasem ran to workers at a construction site to ask for help. Together they helped take the father who had fainted and the motorbike out of the water. The father had a hole in his head and wounds all over the body. The son also had cuts and was experiencing pain. Both are now safe and all medical fees are taken care of by the Plai Bang Sub-district Municipality. Nattapong stated that he received notification of villagers who had fallen into a canal. The village chief was notified before he came to inspect the location. This is when he discovered it was a broken bridge that caused the accident. The bridge was blocked off to protect other villagers and the Deputy District Chief placed wood boards as a temporary replacement for the concrete.
