Shooting after a concert in Khon Kaen.
A shooting took place after a concert ended in Khon Kaen Province. The shooter was arrested and stated he was annoyed after the show ended. 3 persons are injured including a 12-year-old boy who is critically injured. The gun was purchased online and was intended for protection. Police Colonel Pornsak Knamdee reported on 24 December 2022 at 13.00 on the incident. Nam Pong Police station arrested Chaiwet wornsuwan 20-year-old for attempted murder, owning a gun illegally, and carrying the gun in public. On the 22nd of this month villagers hired a band to play near the local government office.
As the concert was near end, they played fast songs which caused teenagers watching to start fighting. Police and related officials in the event controlled the situation. The teenagers calmed down and left the event to go home. Not long after there was a gunshot, A 12-year-old was shot in his forehead and is now in the hospital. Followed were 2 more shots inside a forest nearby. Anon Bunkul 19-year-old was shot in the shoulder and Seksan Leeliang 26-year-old was shot in the left hip. Both victims are in the hospital but are now confirmed safe. Police collected the evidence and started an investigation to find the shooter.
Chaiwat stated he purchased the gun which was originally a BB gun from the internet for 9,000 THB. He customized it into a real gun and it is intended for self protection. He was very annoyed after the concert ended so he shot the gun. He didn’t expect it would actually hit any of the villagers. The gun has been seized along with sneakers the suspect was wearing at the time of the shooting. Chaiwat hid the evidence inside a plastic bag and placed it on his roof. The suspect is now being held at the Khon Kaen Court waiting for prosecution.
