Provincial van operators to ask Premier for mercy
THE head of the Association of Provincial Van Business to getting ready to come to Bangkok tomorrow to ask Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha for clemency in his move to reorganize this service as it is not yet clear what this entails and could lead to a slowdown at the end of the month, Thai News Agency said today (March 27).
Rangsan Saisut, president of the Association of Provincial Van Business, said that at 9 a.m. tomorrow he and some association members will submit an open letter to Premier Prayut to resolve problems caused by the reorganization of this service as ordered National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) that a team be set up to do so.
The association is urging Premier Prayut to revise parts of the order which they say cannot be carried out for example instead of the driver’s license being seized a traffic ticket be issued instead because drivers need to swipe their license on the GPS tracking box.
As drivers face a heavy fine if they don’t have their license with them, many have quit.
If there is no clear answer then the association members and their joint operators might have to stop running the vans on March 31, according to the Thai News Agency report.
