Songkran trouble-makers will face boxers in Buri Ram
TROUBLE-MAKERS beware. If you are in the northeastern Thai province of Buri Ram for the Songkran Festival, don’t get drunk and fight with other celebrants.
Former politician and Buri Ram United chairman Newin Chidchob has set up a boxing ring near his soccer club. Trouble-makers will be sent into the ring and fight with masked boxers from his gym.
After a round of boxing, the trouble-maker will be sent – most probably with a bloody nose – to the police station.
“The rule is made to make sure that everyone who celebrate Songkran in my hometown will go home feeling happy,” he told the Thai-language dailies at a news conference.
