Armed robbers steal 60 million baht from gold trader
A GANG of pistol-wielding robbers stole 196 million yen or around 60 million baht in Thai currency from a gold trader last night and police are quickly hunting them down, INN News said today (Oct. 3).
Pol. Lt. Gen. Charnthep Sevaweja, acting head of Metropolitan Police, held a meeting with investigators at Phaholyothin police station after 5 to 6 men stole this large amount of money from the gold trader’s condominium in Ratchadapisek soi 30.
The victim, Pattirich or Toto Taerattanachai, 34, runs a business trading in gold bars, ornaments and diamonds. He had taken some of it to Japan and returned with 196 million yen stored in a suitcase and a backpack at Suvarnabhumi Airport last night.
At the airport’s arrival hall Pattirich met Chitphat or Nay Phithakkitchwattana and Kiatpong or Oui Phengjim who he had told to meet him and take the money to his condominium unit in Ratchadapisek soi 30.
After he put the money in a BMW sedan, Nay and Oui drove it to his condominium but there the 5 to 6 gangsters wearing balaclavas were waiting for them.
The gangsters fired at Oui while they pushed Nay’s head to the floor, tied his hands behind his back and his feet too plus taped his mouth. They covered both their heads with gunny bags and got away with the huge amount of cash.
Pattirich freed them when he returned to the condo and called the police.
