THE Public Health Department (PHD) is urging the Thai public to eat more pineapple to improve their health and help farmers who are suffering from the low price of the fruit, Sanook.com reported today (June 30, 2018).
PHD deputy director-general Amporn Benjapolpitak said pineapple contains betacatorene, Vitamin C, and food fiber, which help improve a person’s eyesight and immunity. It also helps reduce a person’s risk of having cancer.
A report by a Thai national health survey in 2014 showed that only 30.5 per cent of Thai people consumed fresh fruit on a daily basis. The consumption rate is lower among Thais aged over 60.
