Over 3 million speed pills seized in Chiang Rai

A BIG lot of over 3 million amphetamine pills, or yaba, was seized from a heavily loaded pickup truck at a northern Chiang Rai province checkpoint last night and a couple smuggling the narcotic drug arrested,  INN News reported today (March 4).

The couple, Mr Amnart Chakchoong and Miss Anyakarn Chonbot, from central Phichit province, were stopped at the checkpoint set up by Mae  Lao district police and the large amount of amphetamine pills was found loaded at the rear of their Bangkok-registered pickup truck and also in a handbag.

The suspects told police that they picked up the big lot of yaba from Mae Suai district of Chaing Rai province and were taking it to the central region of the country for distribution but got caught instead.

Police are quickly expanding their investigation to catch other drug traffickers in this network.
