Bank robber uses loot to clear gambling debts

A ROBBER who stole 780,000 baht from a Siam Commercial Bank branch in Chachoengsao province on September 29 spent most of it quickly with the largest amount going to clear gambling debts, INN News said today (Oct 29).

Pol. Maj. Gen. Thirapol Chindaluang said police were only able to recover 100,000 baht from the arrested bank robber whose name is to be revealed at a press conference later today.

The gambling debts he cleared were both at gambling websites and mobile applications as well as at dens across the border in neighboring countries.

Of the remainder he spent some of it on buying gold to use in a new round of gambling.

Police investigators chased the suspected robber and as they got close to him in Pathum Thani’s Nong Suea district he fled to Chonburi but was tracked down and arrested in Bang Lamung district.
