Big crowd welcomes Miss Thailand Namtan back home
(Thai News Agency and Mirror) – The hugely popular Miss Thailand Chalita “Namtan” Suansane who reached the final six in the Miss Universe competition returned to Thailand today and there was a big crowd to welcome her at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thai News Agency said.
On hand to receive Namtan were her family, fan club, media and teachers and students of Pool Charoen Witthayakhom School. The students of this school displayed a placard wishing their former school mate well and also gave her a bouquet of flowers to lift her spirits and also for bringing fame to the school.
Airports of Thailand and Samut Prakarn governor had also arranged a good place at the airport to receive her and 20 minutes after she landed she met her fans there.
Meanwhile the whole world is curious about who Iris Mittenaere, who has been crowned Miss Universe 2017, really is.
The brunette beauty went on to the worldwide competition after being crowned Miss France 2016.
Iris is a native of Lille, a city in northern France, and her platform throughout the competition has been advocating for dental and oral hygiene.
The 24-year-old has a keen interest in the subject and is currently working towards a degree in dental surgery, and with that movie star smile of hers, she’s basically a walking advertisement.
She won the title at the competition’s final on Sunday, January 29, in Manila, Philippines.
The first runner up was Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier and the second runner-up Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar.
Iris is only the second Miss France to ever win the Miss Universe crown and she is also the first European to take the crown since 2002.
She celebrated her birthday during the preliminary stages of the contest, marking the occasion with a cake.
She’s also a big cook and regularly posts photos and videos of her culinary creations to her Instagram account.
She recently enjoyed a cooking session with Michelin chef Frédéric Anton and posted about what an honour it was.
She also shared her strong views on immigration during the contest, saying she’s proud of France’s open borders.
She said: “In France we want to have the most globalization that we can. We want to have the biggest exchange of people that we can. Maybe someday that will change, but now we have open borders.
“Having open borders allows us to travel more through the world and to find out more about what’s out there in the world.”
