Elderly man drowns fishing off Songkhla beach
The body of a 71-year-old grandfather was found in the sea off Chalatat Beach in the southern Thai province of Songkhla early yesterday (June 18, 2020) after a night-long search by divers, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported.
According to his nephew, the old man went fishing alone on a brand-new fiber-glass boat that he bought on June 17.
Local volunteers and divers from the Royal Thai Navy spent several hours to find the missing man but had to return to the beach by nightfall due to the strong currents.
