Emergency Situation Declaration to Be Extended for Another Month
The Cabinet, during its meeting on 25 August 2020, approved the extension of the period of the enforcement of the Declaration of an Emergency Situation in all areas of the Kingdom for another month, from 1 to 30 September 2020.
The decision was made following a proposal by the Office of the National Security Council in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
The Office of the National Security Council, as the coordinating office of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), reported that the global situation of the COVID-19 outbreak remains severe in many parts of the world.
Numerous Thai nationals have continued to return to Thailand, which has also allowed several categories of foreign nationals to enter the Kingdom. In addition, the Government has eased more restrictions on conducting certain businesses and activities, with the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
It, therefore, considers necessary to maintain the Declaration of an Emergency Situation in all areas of the Kingdom. This will facilitate the operations of relevant officials on a continual basis, so that they will be able to handle the COVID-19 situation with great efficiency during the period when research and development are being conducted for the COVID-19 vaccine.
