Ex-Tourist Police head joins Democrat Party
THE former commander of Tourist Police Pol Lt-Gen Sakhon Thongmanee today (Oct 9, 2018) went to the Democrat Party headquarters to register as a member with the aim of running as mayor in southern Hat Yai city, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.
Pol Lt-Gen Sakhon, who retired at the end of last month, met Democrat Party deputy leader Nipit Itharasombat at 3 p.m. to register as a lifelong member of this party.
Prior to this Pol Lt Gen Sakon, who is a resident of Hat Yai, had been in contact with Democrat Party leaders to be a candidate for mayor in the southern city, replacing the current mayor Mr Prai Pattano who is stepping down after completing 3 terms in office.
