First tropical storm wreaks havoc in Lampang villages
Nearly 100 wooden houses in two districts of the northern Thai province of Lampang were hit by a tropical storm that left trails of destruction for more than 450 families yesterday evening (May 17, 2021).
Mae-ta District Officer Suree Ma-plook together with local officials and volunteers inspected the damages of more than 50 houses in Huatoong, Kiew and Natom villages. Several tin roofs were blown away by the storm.
Sub-district officers will survey all the damaged houses and submit a report to the district officer.
Serm-ngarm District Officer Naret-rit Ubonsri also surveyed the damages of more than 40 houses hit by the storm.
This is the first tropical storm after the end of the hot season. The Meteorological Department declared the entry of the rainy season on May 15, 2021.
