Illegal nightclub shutdown with 32 minors and drugs inside.
An illegal nightclub was closed down in Bangkok with 32 minors and drugs inside. Police Colonel Teerasak Jantrapipat gave orders to related officials to search a nightclub in Sai Mai, Bangkok on 16 July 2022 at 2.30 am. Chatit 21 years old was arrested and faces prosecution on charges relating to opening a business that serves alcohol without permission, allowing drugs to be used inside the business, allowing minors to enter inside an entertainment business, and selling alcohol to persons under the age of 20 years old.
Police also found evidence including 2 small bags of Ketamine weighing a total of 0.62 grams, 2 bottles of beer, 2 bottles of whiskey, and 2 paper receipts. Police inspected 156 customers inside the nightclub, 64 male and 92 female. Out of the number, 32 were minors consisting of 2 male and 30 female. Police followed orders and searched the location. When they arrived at the address officials saw a nightclub that was full of people. Inside the business was no social distancing and there was no attempt from the owner to follow any Covid-19 safety measures.
There was a DJ playing and alcohol was sold to minors openly. Customers were dancing on the stage and inside the nightclub. There were 32 customers under 20 years old which is the legal drinking age in Thailand. The minors were drinking alcohol and dancing, none were employees of the restaurant. All the minors admitted to drinking and police also found Ketamine inside the business. Chatit stated he was the person looking after the nightclub. He had no permission to open an entertainment business but he had the license to sell alcoholic drinks. Chatit and persons under the legal drinking age were delivered to the police station.
