Installation of the New Queen of Thailand

The Royal Gazette on 1 May 2019 published an announcement on the installation of the new Queen of the Kingdom of Thailand.

 

According to the announcement, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun issued a Royal Command stating that His Majesty the King had married General Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya legally and in accordance with the royal tradition.

 

His Majesty, therefore, gave a command installing General Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya, the royal consort, as Queen Suthida and a member of the Royal Family from now on. The Royal Command was given on 1 May 2019 in the fourth year of the present reign.

 

The court news broadcast on television on the evening of 1 May 2019 showed that the royal marriage registration took place at Dusit Palace.

 

The couple signed a marriage certificate book, which was also signed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and President of the Privy Council General Prem Tinsulanonda as witnesses.

 

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and other senior officials were also in attendance.
