Myanmar girls rescued from sex trade
ONE hundred Myanmar girls under the age of 18 were rescued by Thai police from a massage parlor in Huay Kwang District of Bangkok last night, Sanook.com reported today (Jan. 13).
The raid followed a tip-off from the Foundation for the Protection of Women. A 55-year-old Thai pimp was arrested and charged with soliciting and detaining under-aged girls for prostitution.
The police also found a file in the massage parlor’s computer listing the names of Thai civil servants who are entitled to a discount when visiting the parlor.
Last year, the foundation cooperated with the Malaysian government to rescue under-aged Myanmar girls forced into prostitution there.
