No political campaign in temples
THE Supreme Patriarch today (August 31, 2018) signed an announcement barring anyone or any political group from organizing political campaigns in all Buddhist temples in the country.
The announcement authorizes all the temple abbots to prevent politicians and campaigners from using their premises for political activities.
Office of National Buddhism spokesman Sipbavorn Kaewngarm said the ban on political campaigning in temples has been imposed for a long time. “It’s nothing new, and we believe all politicians are aware of this regulation,” he said.
