Tour bus fire, 40 French tourists survive.

Tour bus goes on fire while on the road to Kanchanaburi Province. 40 tourists inside had to escape in the middle of a mountain. The driver did not realize what was happening until a different driver drove ahead to get his attention. Sai Yok Police received notification on 1 December 2023 about a tour bus fire. The bus was about to leave a mountain into Sai Yok District. The firefighters and local rescue team were also notified and went to the incident right away. Officials arrived to find a white bus with a Bangkok license plate belonging to Jakkawan and Sunshine Transport Company parked by the road. Smoke was coming from the motor but fire fighters managed to control the flames after 10 minutes.

The tour bus was full of French tourists on the way to a famous restaurant in Sai Yok. The fire started 300 meters away from Sai Yok Hospital. The driver did not realize what was happening until a good citizen noticed the smoke and drove ahead to alert the driver. Thankfully for this good citizen, the bus was parked in time and all tourists escaped before anything bad had happened. The driver parked the bus to check the motor. He noticed the fire and yelled to the guide inside the bus to get everyone out. The guide quickly informed the tourists who all left the vehicle within minutes to safety. If the good citizen did not inform the driver and the bus continued running the fire could’ve been much worse.

Officials from the Sai Yok Administrative Department sent a vehicle to pick up all tourists and delivered them to the restaurant as originally planned. The bus has been moved safely to the Sai Yok Police Station. The Kanchanaburi Police started an investigation to find the true cause of the fire. This incident was scary but everyone involved in the incident is safe. The tourists were able to continue the schedule as planned.
