The three gangs and their criminal activities are as follows:

  • A call center gang from Malaysia;
  • A romance scam gang that has tricked victims into transferring over 10 million baht;
  • Foreigners overstaying here and taking up prostitution. Around 30 Ugandan women claim they are victims of human trafficking.

Pol. Maj. Gen Surachet said policemen joined together to crackdown on foreigners really breaking the law and have arrested some of them and seized a lot of assets.

When it comes to prostitution, police initially cancel the suspects’ permit or visa and send them back to their own country. However, some of them claim that they are victims of human trafficking and their cases have been forwarded to relevant agencies.
