PM Prayut ignores Yingluck’s UK move
PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has chosen to ignore the news that fugitive prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra has traveled to UK and is trying to ask for political asylum there opting to quickly track her down in accordance to the legal process, INN News said today (Sept. 30).
Government Spokesman Lt. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Prime Minister Prayut had already been unofficially informed by the Foreign Ministry that Ms Yingluck had traveled to UK and was trying to ask for political asylum there.
However Gen. Prayut did not pay any attention to this nor gave importance to Ms Yingluck asking for political asylum because his responsibility to this country is to uphold the law and follow, arrest and prosecute her under the provisions of the law.
Lt. Gen. Sansern added that whether or not Ms Yingluck applies for political asylum is a personal matter.
However it still has to be determined whether she falls under the criterion of a political asylum seeker with this being linked to both Thai and international laws.
He added that there are Thai officials already handling this issue.
