Police successfully saves woman from jumping Phra Nang Klao Bridge.
At around 8 pm on the 25th of this month (June 2019) Police Corporal Adisak Jampakaew and Police Lance Corporal Thana Nilwimit from the Rattanathibet Police were following orders from the commander as they were inspecting the roads. Little did they know, that together they would end up saving a life.
The officers reported they were checking the roads in the area as usual when they were contacted with emergency information from the Rattanathibet Police radio center about a woman who was planning to end her life by jumping off the Phra Nang Klao Bridge. Phra Nang Klao Bridge crosses the Chao Phraya River that runs through Bangkok located in Phra Nakhon known as Old Bangkok in Bangkok City.
The officers were told that the woman was standing on the bridge on the side that leads to Bang Yai District. Together they immediately drove their motorbikes to the bridge, when they arrived they found the woman standing on the bridge.
The police were trying to talk to her and together they attempted to calm the woman down in hopes that she will change her mind by continuing her journey in life. While they were talking, the woman’s phone had an incoming call. The police asked to talk to the person that was trying to call her.
The person on the phone stated to the police that she was her girlfriend. The boyfriend told the police that they did not have a fight and he didn’t realize what she was planning to do that night. The police then informed the boyfriend of where they were and why the police were on the phone with him. He hired a Win Motorbike Driver to come to see his girlfriend right away at Phra Nang Klao Bridge and requested to take the girl back with him.
The police wanted to bring the woman in for some questioning at the Rattanathibet Police Station, but the couple insisted that they didn’t want to go. The police asked for their name and contact information along with taking their pictures as evidence of the incident taking place.
