Police want weapons searches at shopping malls
IN order to boost security for the public police are pushing for weapons searches at department stores after a student badly assaulted a shopper at the men’s room of a famous mall in Bangkapi area, INN News reported this morning (Oct 17, 2018).
The arrested student, Mr Chuchart or Tonwarn, 22, used 2 pieces of wood to beat up Mr Nathkarn Phuengkhachorn, 50, at the restroom in order to rob him.
Pol Maj Gen Thirapong Wongrathphithak, head of Metropolitan Police Division 4, said this robbery shows there is a serious social problem and it is now important that those entering shopping malls be searched for weapons.
Plainclothes policemen already mingle with the throngs of shopping at these malls to prevent various types of crimes against shoppers.
Pol Col Phasakorn Ratnapanadda, head of Ladprao police station, said the suspect is being taken to the criminal court to seek approval for detention this morning.
