Rabies warnings in 39 Thai provinces
Thirty-nine provinces, including Bangkok, have been put on a watch list for rabies, which has caused six deaths across the country since January this year, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported today (March 23).
The latest case in Bangkok involved a young man who took an injured stray dog home in Soi Onnuj 36 on March 15. Two days later, the dog became vicious and bit one of his family members.
The animal died on March 20, and an autopsy revealed that it had rabies. All family members were promptly vaccinated.
