Surat army welcomes poll candidates
Election candidates in the southern Thai province of Surat Thani are welcome to campaign for votes in army barracks, Provincial Army Commander Manote Chankiri said in an interview with the Thai-language daily Matichon this afternoon (Feb 12, 2019).
“The Thai Army is neutral in the forthcoming general election and candidates can campaign freely inside our barracks” Maj-Gen Manote said.
Provincial Election Director Saranyu Arthitsaranyakorn, meanwhile, stressed that election candidates must respect election campaign laws.
