Teacher under fire for shaming student
A MALE primary school teacher in the northern Thai province of Phetchabun has been suspended from duty for shaming a schoolboy in front of other students and teachers, Sanook.com reported today (June 23, 2018).
The teacher reportedly hung a note around the boy’s neck with the message “I haven’t paid 700 baht in tuition fee,” as he entered the canteen for lunch.
The scandal made big headlines on Facebook and other Thai social media, with parents and readers pouring scorn on the teacher.
“It is so cruel to do that to a schoolboy,” one Facebook reader wrote. “He is unfit to be a teacher and should be fired.”
