Tighter security at airports after suicide attempt

POLICE have tightened security at all 5 major international airports after a Brazilian tourist tried to commit suicide by jumping down at the passenger terminal of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thai News Agency reported today (Oct 20, 2018).

Confirming good security at Suvarnabhumi Airport was Miss Dalad Asaves, the deputy head, who said adequate measures are in place to take care of passengers after a western tourist fell to his death in the outbound terminal while the Brazilian tourist got severely injured after similarly doing so 2 days ago.

Pol Maj-Gen Surachet “Big Joke” Hakphan, acting head of Immigration Bureau, said as Thailand is getting increasing number of tourists and in order to prevent such incidents he as ordered Immigration officers to coordinate with Tourist Police and Airport authorities in taking better care of passengers and maintain tighter security.

He added that the Brazilian tourist who jumped down at the passenger terminal is now in safe condition. He had arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport in a taxi and did not know how to travel on and also being drunk he decided to jump.
