TV actress Ameria beats drug trafficking charge

FAMOUS TV star Miss Ameria “Amy” Jacob was released on 1 year probation after Minburi Court dismissed the charge of drug trafficking against her through lack of evidence but sentenced her to 3 months in jail and 5,000 baht fine for taking drugs,  Sanook.com reported today (August 28, 2018).

Ameria, who was Miss Teen Thailand  2006,  was arrested together with her boyfriend Punyawat Hiratdecha, a manager of a pub on Theparak road, in September last year after 191 police raided their house on Sukhapiban 5 road and found 70 grams of Ice (crystal methamphetamine) and 16 tablets of Ecstasy, weighing scales and 5 sets of intake equipment.

Punyawat was convicted of the drug trafficking charges and was sentenced to life in prison and fined 2.5 million baht. However because he confessed, this was reduced to 25 years, 4 months and 15 days in jail and a fine of 750,000 baht.

Ameria was sentenced to 6 months in jail and fined 10,000 baht for taking drugs, but because she confessed, this was reduced to 3 months imprisonment and 5,000 baht fine. The jail term was suspended for 2 years and Ameria required to report to the authorities every 3 months for 1 year, with drug test to be conducted each time, and 24 hours of community work.

However the court dismissed the charge of holding and trafficking drugs against her through lack of evidence.
