8.71% jump in tourist arrivals during first 9 months

INTERATIONAL tourist arrivals during the first 9 months of this year reached 28,541,88 people with this being an increase of 8.71% over the same period last year, INN News reported today (Oct 16, 2018).

Mr Pongpanu Svetarundra, permanent secretary of Ministry Of Tourism and Sports, said revenue generated by foreign tourists during this year’s first 3 quarters reached 1,490,458.01 million baht which is a 10.95% increase year-on-year.

Last month a total of 2,655,562 foreign tourists came to Thailand with this being an increase of 2.13% compared to the same month last year.

Top 10 foreign tourist arrivals were from China, Malaysia, Laos, Japan, South Korea, India, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam respectively.

Tourist spending in September reached 140,140.11 million baht, an increase of 2.92% over the same period last year.

Meanwhile a total of 13.26 million Thai people traveled in their own country in August, an increase of 2.81% over the same period last year. Their tourism expenditure generated a revenue of 89,366.43 million baht, an increase of 9.59% over the same period last year.
