Suvarnabhumi Airport enjoyed big Songkran spike
SUVARNABHUMI Airport was extra busy this Songkran with 2.26 million passengers passing through during April 5-17, an increase of 8.63% over the same period in 2016, Thai News Agency said today (April 19).
Siroj Duangrat, director of Suvarnabhumi International Airport operated by Airports of Thailand Plc, said 2,263,552 travelers went through Suvarnabhumi Aiport during this period with this working out to be an average of 174,119 passengers a day.
Of this total 1,843,600 were international travelers, an increase of 5.51%, and 419,952 flew to domestic destinations, up 24.79%.
During April 5-17 there were a total of 12,183 flights, or an average of 937 a day, which is 1.18% increase over the same period in 2016.
However, there is an interesting change because international flights during period, totaling 9,116, is a 1.65% year-on-year drop while domestic flights, totaling 3,067, is a 10.64% increase.
