New Year’s celebration alcohol allowed to 1am.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration has allowed businesses that will be open on New Year’s eve night to serve alcoholic drinks from 31 December 2021 – 1am on 1 January 2022. New Year celebration parties and temple activities are allowed. The PM reveals he is proud many nations are re-opening for tourism with safety measures put in place. He also states that some of these nations have adopted Thailand’s Test and Go project. A project that works to prevent persons positive with Covid-19 from spreading the virus.

Prayut Chan-o-cha the Prime Minister of Thailand and the Minister of Defense has approved in the latest Covid-19 meeting to include Chonburi Province and 8 blue provinces to allow alcohol consumption in restaurants.  For New Year’s night the restriction is that businesses must be open air or have enough air circulation inside.  For New Year celebrations with more than 1,000 people joining, all must have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and receive an ATK test. Those entering the nation for the celebration must follow the sandbox and quarantine facilities rules, with a quarantine period of 7 days.

Thailand’s implementation of the Test and Go project has increased confidence for tourists planning to enter the country and also those traveling back home or into other nations. Many nations have complemented Thailand’s Covid-19 administration. After opening the country new case numbers have remained good. Thai’s also are confident in the Government’s work and have followed strictly to all safety measurements to keep everyone safe. By allowing alcohol on New Year’s eve night will also help the government plan future holiday regulations including the Songkran water festivals.  This is a good hope for Thailand’s Covid-19 situation as the country slowly re-opens for tourism and the New Year’s eve celebration hopefully will set a positive stage for the upcoming year of 2022.
