Meat and fruit smugglers arrested
CRIME Suppression Division police today (Oct. 18) arrested two smugglers transporting foreign meat and fruit from southern Songkhla province to Talad Thai in Pathum Thani province, Thai News Agency reported.
Found on their trucks were 3 tons of buffalo meat from India, one ton of chicken feet from Malaysia and four tons of African oranges worth over 1 million baht.
They were caught at a checkpoint on Rama 2 road in Samut Songkram province and confessed that they were paid 7,000 baht a trip to transport foodstuff from Songkhla to Talad Thai, which is Thailand’s biggest wholesale food market located 40 kilometers north of Bangkok, and that they made 5 to 6 trips a month.
