Deputy PM Prawit ignores 2 parties linking up against a military party
DEPUTY Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan paid no attention to the news that 2 big Thai political parties are linking up to resist a military party, pointing out that soldiers have not set up a political party, Thai News Agency reported today (Nov. 29).
Commenting on the news that Democrat and Pheu Thai parties are joining hands to resist a military party, General Prawit said: “If they are holding hands they can continue doing so. The government is still working as usual. Soldiers have not set up any political party so how can we be a rival.”
Regarding the latest Cabinet reshuffle whereby Gen. Chanchai Changmongkol, former permanent secretary of the Defense Ministry, replaced Gen. Udomdej Setabutr as the deputy defense minister, Gen. Prawit said the new deputy defense minister is carrying on the same duties as his predecessor, with these being taking care of the border areas in the South, and continuing with the reconciliation work this government has been undertaking right from the start.
