Loy Kratong in a snow dome
A big surprise awaits tourists who plan to celebrate the annual Loy Kratong Festival in the northern Thai province of Chiang Mai, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported yesterday (Nov 16, 2018).
According to Chiang Mai Zoo director Wuttichai Muangman, a Snow Dome will be created inside the zoo along with two big water ponds, where locals and tourists can float their kratong, which will be given to each tourist for free from now until November 25.
Each kratong will be made from banana leaves and other natural materials that are not harmful to the environment, according to Mr Wutthichai.
Loy Kratong is one of the most popular festivals in Thailand.
