Big government fund to help Thai SMEs
THE Thai government is setting aside a budget of 20 billion baht to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs), many of which are struggling to make ends meet, Thansethakit biweekly said it is March 2-4 edition.
Somchai Harnhiran, the permanent secretary of the Industry Ministry, said the government will have a meeting with the governors of 77 provinces to brief them about measures to help SMEs.
Under these guidelines, each province will set up a center to support and help SMEs. In addition to financial support, the center will be staffed with two experts to advice local small and medium enterprises about how to boost their efficiency.
All centers will be connected through web cameras through which SME operators can share their opinions.
A committee of financial experts, chaired by the chief of the provincial industries, will give advice and guidelines to local investors. Officials from the Government Savings Bank, and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives are also available to give advice and assistance, if necessary.
