Fire guts 10 row houses under Bangna bridge
A FIRE at a crowded community under Bangna Trat highway’s Klong Chuatlakkhao Bridge at 8.30 p.m. last night destroyed 10 houses and the thick smoke led to traffic being redirected on to the expressway, Thai News Agency said.
A disabled man died this is blaze which gutted 10 wooden row houses on the outbound side beneath this bridge at kilometer 12 of Bangna Trat highway.
Firemen rushed in with 20 fire engines to put out the blaze and succeeded in doing so within an hour but as thick smoke covered the road officials were forced to close this stretch for some time and redirected the traffic on to the expressway.
Mrs Rasamee Learmlum, 45, who lived in this crowded community under the bridge said she was cooking food for her grandchild when all of a sudden a lot of smoke floated in through the back door so she quickly ran out and upon seeing that a fire had broken out ran further away.
