12 suspects sought over football match fixing
POLICE have asked the court to issue arrest warrants for a gang of 12 suspects who fixed Thai League football matches, INN News reported today (Nov. 21).
National Police Chief Pol.Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda and Football Association of Thailand president Pol.Gen. Somyot Poompanmoung will be giving details of this case at a press conference at 2 pm today.
Pol.Gen. Chakthip had set up an investigation team after the Football Association of Thailand told him that there is evidence of the highest ranking “Toyota Thai League 2017” matches being fixed.
The 30-strong investigation team included officers from Metropolitan Police Bureau and Central Investigation Bureau.
A petition has been submitted to the Criminal Court on Ratchadapisek Road to issue arrest warrants for 5 professional football players, 1 goalkeeper, 1 lineman, 1 club manager and 4 club directors and financiers.
