17 years later, man who stabbed enemy for waitress arrested.
The Crime Suppression Division arrested Jayrawit Pankaew 37 years old also known as Ud from Phang Nga Province. The suspect was arrested under the power of arrest warrant no. 112/2546 issued on 24 January 2003 by the Sura Thani Provincial Court. He is finally arrested after living 17 years on the run from his crime.
The incident took place on 3 January 2003 at 21.00. A man named Samart was drinking with his friends at a restaurant named Nong Eh’s Karaoke in Surat Thani Province. A waitress from the restaurant came to join Samart and his friends at their table. After a while, Ud the suspect and 3 friends came into the restaurant and sat at a table by Samart.
Then at 23.00 Ud and Samart got into a fight over the waitress, both of them were interested in her. Ud called for the bill so that he could leave the restaurant. While the suspect and his friends were walking out, Ud decided to walk back into the restaurant and drew out a knife he was carrying on him at the time, he used it to stab Samart from behind. The knife was about 10 centimeters long and Ud stabbed Samart 2 times. Samart was critically hurt, luckily his friends rushed the victim to the hospital on time.
Recent Police investigation revealed that Ud had run away to Bangkok. He was working and was staying Nong Khaem, Bangkok. Officials started looking in the area and found him standing in front of a house at a village in Nong Khaem on 4 November 2019. They arrested him at 23.40. When the officers revealed to Ud that they were the police along with his arrest warrant, Ud admitted that he was truly the person they were looking for but he was never involved in the court case. Ud has been delivered to Phanom Police Station for prosecution.
