Big-time drug dealer nabbed in Chonburi
CHOBURI police arrested a major drug dealer whose nickname is “Singh Chao Praya” or “Lion of Chao Praya” last night as he was speeding off to escape arrest and was only stopped after shots were fired at the bonnet and the tires, Thai News Agency reported this morning (May 25, 2018).
The big-time drug dealer in this province adjacent to Bangkok, whose real name is Mr Somchai Phromwiset, 37, has been chased for over 3 years, but always managed to flee because being a native of Si Racha district he knows the area well.
Bor Win police were checking Lang Khao road at Nong Kang Pla intersection when they spotted a suspicious vehicle. Upon moving in to check it, the driver zoomed ahead to flee, with police quickly chasing.
It was only after police fired at the vehicle’s bonnet and tires did the suspect stop, but even then refused to come out of the vehicle, but finally did so when police smashed the window.
There are 4 arrest warrants issued against Somchai, held by Bor Win, Bang Plee Noi, Pattaya and Rayong police stations.
Accompanying the suspect in the vehicle was Miss Suphaporn Phanphakdi, 29, and a search uncovered a 9 mm pistol, 26 bullets and 2.85 grams of Ice (crystal methamphetamine).
The suspect told police that he was heading for Rayong to sell the Ice to a customer at around 800 to 1,500 baht a gram.
