Chiang Mai coping with Covid-19
The fear of Covid-19 has resulted in a cancellation of around 20-30 percent of hotel reservations in the northern Thai province of Chiang Mai.
The cancellations mostly affect group tours arranged by private companies and local government agencies, INN News reported today (Dec 8, 2020).
“Ordinary tourists have continued to visit Chiang Mai and we expect more tourists during the New Year,” said Pol Maj-Gen Pacha Rattanapan, who is the president of the Tourism Business Association of Chiang Mai.
The local private sector also has a campaign to give 100,000 baht to any tourist found with Covid-19 during their stay in Chiang Mai. One million baht will be given to the family of any tourists who die of Covid-19 during their stay in Chiang Mai.
