Drunken monk hit by speeding car
A DRUNKEN Buddhist monk was hit by a speeding car last night while crossing the street in front of a restaurant in Kaeng Khor District of the northeastern Thai province of Chaiyaphum, Sanook.com reported today (August 1).
The 48-year-old monk had been eating and drinking in the restaurant before the accident. He was sent to Kaeng Kror District Hospital in serious condition.
Sanook.com did not say why the restaurant served him alcoholic drinks, which is against Buddhist monk rules. Deputy district police chief Pol Capt Pitak Chomnawang said the monk would be interrogated when he recovered from the injuries.
