Fire guts Bangkok-Phuket tour coach
A TOUR coach heading for Phuket from Bangkok hit a motorcycle on Petchkasem -Thap Sakae road in Prachuab Khiri Khan province in the middle of the night triggering a fire which tore through the whole vehicle but except for the motorcyclist all others escaped unharmed, Thai News Agency said today (August 21).
Pol. Capt. Chakrawut Klangkhan, investigator at Huay Yang Police Station at Thap Sakae district, said a fire broke out on the Phuket-registered air-conditioned coach after the driver hit and dragged a motorcycle for 50 meters within the moment it had suddenly cut cross because he was not able to brake on time.
All 34 passengers, the driver and three other staff managed to escape safely from the burning coach however the motorcyclist was first sent to Thap Kasae Hospitial and later forwarded to Prachuab Khiri Khan Hospital but is now in safe condition.
Pol. Capt. Chakrawut said he would have to question the coach driver and eyewitnesses again before proceeding with any legal action.
